If variety is the end of the pier, Mister Meredith went and jumped off the end. “Camp”, “glitzy”, “dandy”, “charmer”…all frequently used words in the press that describe this musical comedian with a penchant for lewd songs and loose clothing; qualities that helped him into the finals of Hackney Empire New Act of The Year and 5 star reviews for his solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012 and 2013.
Now one of Proud Cabaret’s resident compères, he also performs in stand-up, cabaret, burlesque and singalong nights.
“Charming, thoughtful and bloody good fun” Time Out
“Hilarious and uplifting” Broadway Baby
“An old school smoothy [sic] with dry, observational comedy” The Herald
“A subversive compère who takes pride in getting the City boys a little hot under the collar” The Telegraph
“An amazing compère” Burlesque Bible
“One of the greatest cabaret performers of his generation” Scotsgay
FOR THE BOYS
Calling all forces! The emergency party has arrived with…
FOR THE BOYS
(By appointment to The Phwoar Office)
Divine Miss Em (belting singer and compere with a fighting front) and Mister Meredith (dandy comedian and modern day Mrs Mills) have joined (armed) forces to create vintage singalong duo For The Boys, bashing out songs that helped win the war.
With Mister Meredith at the piano and Miss Em leading the chorus, you have all the ingredients for a proper pub singalong vibe. Starting the party with all your wartime favourites, by the end of the night we have people joining in with all sorts of requests, from the Hokey Cokey to Bohemian Rhapsody. Take a look at our showreel and you’ll understand why we get so many bookings for private functions including weddings, birthdays and corporate parties, but you can always catch them at their showcase gig on the last Sunday of every month in Variety Bunker, The George Tavern, London E1
Miss Em started her career in the West End as one of the original title roles in Annie at the age of ten and then continued her Musical Theatre career until turning to the world of cabaret and all things vintage, channelling her Tiller Girl mother and her East End roots.
“REcreating the cockney spirit of the Blitz!”
Mister Meredith is an accomplished singalong pianist with twenty years experience. The original pianist at Norman’s Coach and Horses, he has performed for the Soap Awards, British Guild of Travel Writers and more weddings than Katie Price. He’s also a well-known cabaret compere and musical comedian, winning 5 star reviews for his last two one man shows.
